Very often, in order to save money, I buy a package of CD/DVD discs to record all sorts of things on them. And as a rule, I forget about where I will put the already recorded discs later. Often you need to record something for friends or for work, but without a box the disc can be scratched and some of the data may not be counted, which can be a shame. You have to quickly pack a CD/DVD disc in some kind of envelope, usually made from a sheet of A4 paper, which has already been reliably installed not only in offices, but also in apartments. This is very impractical, not to mention aesthetically.

One day I decided that it would be nice to take and print an envelope; I had paper and a printer too. Technologies are now developing very rapidly, but printers do not yet print ready-made envelopes. But it’s very possible to print a blank for making an envelope for CD/DVD discs. Having literally spent ten to fifteen minutes of time, I made a blank for printing an envelope, already with lines drawn to record information about the contents of the disc and the type of disc.

Then everything is simple, the entire manufacturing procedure takes only five steps.

Step one: print out the blank of our future envelope for a CD/DVD disc.

Printing out the envelope template

Step two: cut out the outline of our future envelope and make a slot for the lock.

Step three: fold the wings of the envelope along the dotted line and apply a thin layer of glue to the wings, so that excess glue does not get on other parts of the envelope.

Step four: glue the envelope.

Step five: wait a few minutes for the glue to dry (depending on the type of glue used). Good result It turns out that if you dry the envelope under load, for example by placing several books on top, the envelope turns out to be very even. And now you have a ready-made envelope in which you can transport and store your CD/DVD discs.

You can use a blank for making an envelope for CD/DVD discs and, if necessary, make your own envelopes.

You often have to look for a box for a freshly recorded disc, but without one at hand, you can build an envelope for discs from a sheet of “snow maiden” paper in standard A4 format. Since discs are very easy to scratch, learn how to make an envelope for them in 1 minute. Here are a few different ways to fold a paper CD sleeve.

First way

If you have a printer, download this one and print it on A4 sheet without using margins. Next, bend it along the lines according to this figure.

Second way

To get an envelope for one disc, do as in this video

Third way

This method was found on the site http://masteru.org.ua/ and it is also good for creating a single container for a CD or DVD.

This solves the problem of buying boxes for CDs and DVDs. According to my calculations, the cost of 500 paper envelopes is equal to the cost of a pack of “Snow Maiden” paper, that is, 120-150 rubles.

  5. You will get a convenient pocket where you can insert the disc.

Now you have:

  • bend the free part of the sheet;
  • press it tightly.

To prevent dust from getting inside the pocket and the disc getting lost, make small “ears” on the sides on the same part. They will fit into the pocket and securely hold it in the closed position.

The CD envelope is ready!

To make a paper envelope for a disc, you will need:

  1. Double-sided colored paper.
  2. File.
  3. Cardboard.
  4. Ruler (simple and with circles).
  5. Simple and curly scissors.
  6. A simple pencil.
  7. PVA glue.
  8. Knife.
  9. Spoke.
  10. Toothpick for curling paper.
  11. Beads.

Work order:

  1. To make an envelope from paper for a disc, first cut out a template for the future envelope.
  2. Take the cardboard from which the envelope will be made. Place the template on the cardboard and trace.
  3. Cut with simple scissors, but one edge needs to be cut with curly scissors for beauty.
  4. After the base of the envelope is cut out according to the template, you should “punch” the folds so that they look beautiful on the outside and bend easily. A knitting needle can be used for these purposes.
  5. Next, you need to bend the product and continue working.
  6. On the side of the pocket where the disc will be placed, you need to mark a slot in the middle. Cut with a knife. Apply PVA glue and glue the “wings”. The envelope is ready!
  7. Now you need to decorate it. From orange and blue paper, cut strips 5 mm wide and 30 cm long. Glue them together one at a time. The length of each strip should be 60 cm.
  8. Insert the tip of the strip into the slot of the toothpick and begin winding, making a rotation, starting with the blue color. It is necessary that the turns of paper fit snugly against each other. Having reached the end, place rulers with a diameter of 12 mm in the circle, remove the toothpicks, and let the spiral unravel. Give the roll a teardrop shape.
  9. For the center of the flower, take yellow strips 30 cm long and 10 mm wide. Cut the strip into noodles. If you find it difficult to cut evenly, you can draw a line in the middle with a pencil.
  10. Roll the roll tightly and secure it at the end with glue. Unbend carefully.
  11. Make a flower from the received parts. Make 5 of these flowers.
  12. Glue them onto the envelope.

How to make an envelope yourself from A4 sheet

Many thrifty or forgetful people who run past stores with postal supplies are then faced with the question of where to get this very envelope at the right time.

And if you already have paper at home, how can you make an envelope from an A4 sheet? After all, from time to time everyone has a need or a case when they are really needed. This question is especially relevant during the holidays.

After all, if a postcard sometimes does not require additional packaging, then, for example, a sincere congratulation on a beautiful sheet or just money without an envelope loses some of its appeal.

Presenting and receiving something in a handmade envelope is doubly pleasant - this means that the person took care of the packaging in advance. What if the postcard or greeting has non-standard sizes? Then you definitely can’t do without “samizdat”.

You can make almost any type of paper packaging yourself: from the simplest (for letters) to complex gift packaging. You can also make the design for the money yourself, even replacing the protective box for the disc. Therefore, in this article we will try to figure out how to make an envelope from an A4 sheet.

Of course, if you have no experience in making an envelope, then easy methods are most relevant. There are several of them, and people with kind hearts and properly placed limbs have taken care of this and periodically share instructions.

First way

The easiest option is to cut out the future product from paper as shown in the figure. To do this, you will need scissors and a strong hand to bend evenly where indicated by the dotted line.

If the process was successful, then all that remains is to glue a little at the junction of all sides of the resulting cute envelope. All that remains is to choose what to put in there! As you can see, making an envelope from A4 sheet turned out to be much easier and faster than reading about the proposed method.

After all, giving and receiving any gifts is doubly joyful when the packaging matches the occasion.

An undeniable advantage of making an envelope yourself is that the donor can decorate it according to the occasion, choosing and gluing a picture or simply decorating it with a wish inscription.

The second method is based on the first, but involves more work scissors. This type of envelope is suitable for a sincere message, and if anyone was interested in the question of how to make an envelope from A4 sheet for a letter with your own hands, then the answer is right here.

We cut out the outline along the lines shown in the picture and bend it at the dotted line. At the junction of the envelope planes you need to use glue. The result is a neat, elegant envelope.

Interestingly, this method is suitable for any thick paper - colored, packaging, cardboard.

What to do if you have paper on hand but no adhesive? Then a new question arises: “How to make an envelope from A4 sheet without glue?” It's okay, there is always a way out.

If there is no glue in the house, then a stapler or tape will do. These office assistants will also come in handy in making envelopes.

Tip: You can find colorful, bright tapes with pictures in office supply stores or craft departments. Then the edges of the product glued together with it will acquire the most creative look.

What if there is absolutely nothing to glue the edges of the envelope? In this case, let's take inspiration from the Japanese origami method. As usual, you need to take a piece of paper, then bend it exactly as the image shows. After this, all that remains is to bend the corners over the top parts so that the envelope is ready.

The second method of making an envelope from an A4 sheet without glue is suitable for making a product of an original shape, and you will need a square blank. Fold the sheet exactly diagonally to form a triangle. Then one corner of it needs to be bent to the diagonal line.

The right and left parts of the future product will require bending exactly a third of the length. It turns out that the corners of the folds on both sides will intersect to the edge. After this, you need to bend the corners back from the edges so that you can see how small pockets have formed.

The very last step: put the top of the envelope into the pocket, which will become a small “lock” and will not allow the product to open.

If a simple envelope is no longer suitable, then you can go further and show the world a masterpiece. A beautiful, elegantly or imaginatively designed envelope will be an excellent addition and packaging for your gift, if it is a postcard with a wish, a gift certificate or that always-needed money. So how to do beautiful envelope from sheet A4?

It can be decorated as your heart desires and your imagination allows. You can glue colored applications or special stickers. You can paint with colored pencils and attach ribbons and flowers.

You can even make a drawing using a stencil: stick on some image (it is better to choose simple pictures that are easily recognizable by their outline). These could be leaves, flowers, animals. Then use spray paint to paint the surface of the envelope.

Another idea is to take a brush and dip it in watercolor paints and spray onto the envelope. You can use as many colors as you like, but do not forget that it is better to rinse the brush in water before using the next color.

Another option is to use lace in decoration. Glue it only on the corner or cover the maximum surface of the envelope - it depends on your imagination.

“Clothing” for the disc

Lost your CD or DVD box again? Or maybe you were given a copy without packaging? The lack of any protection for such information media is a big risk, because any scratch can damage the important data on them.

Still no boxes, boxes, packaging for discs, but you still want order? It doesn’t matter, because instructions on how to make an envelope for a disk from A4 sheet are already here. Thanks to it, you can easily and quickly make convenient, space-saving packaging for the disc.

This activity will take no more than a minute, and the resulting envelope will come in handy more than once. To make it, just make a few movements.

  1. Having placed the disk exactly in the middle on the paper, you need to bend the edges of the paper along its entire length. This will indicate the width of the envelope, and the size will exactly match the enclosed CD/DVD media.
  2. Next, you need to carefully bend the paper with the disk turned over on the other side. The resulting workpiece will be narrower in height.
  3. The second part of the sheet also needs to be folded across, after which all that remains is to bend the corners of the envelope so that the disk does not fall out.

The envelope is ready, and after several rehearsals you can show off your ability to make simple and quick packaging for discs.

In this way, you can make envelopes not only for information media, but also for postcards non-standard shape and size. You can please your loved ones by delivering a warm wish or letter in such an envelope.

Of course, then you will need some additional decoration or paper of a different color. In extreme cases, just a cute signature.

Conclusion

It would be great if the article helped to understand the seeming difficulties of creating packaging for discs, for money, for postcards. There are plenty of ways to make an envelope from A4 sheet, and, depending on the purpose, you can make as many types as you like.

For production, you can choose bright wrapping paper, or you can also choose a magazine sheet. You can completely decorate the finished envelope, or you can make a laconic inscription. Or even use the scrapbooking decoration technique using ribbons, buttons, threads, rhinestones and lace.

It all depends on the imagination and the situation for which the envelope is created. The fate of the investment or gift is unknown, but the first impression of the delivery process will remain forever.

Step-by-step manufacturing instructions

When you are already tired of the usual CD packaging, you can do something interesting and unusual. And we will help you with this.

So, let's get to work:

  • find an old factory envelope;
  • glue it very carefully - this way you will get a stencil;
  • place it on the selected image (it is important that the main component of the composition is in the center of the future pocket);
  • trace the stencil with any black pencil;
  • cut the envelope along the marked lines;
  • glue it together in the same way as the factory product.

Such pockets can become a real decoration for a teenager’s room, and if desired, one or two envelopes will become the first copies of an unusual collection. At the same time, the choice of topic is always yours.

Exclusive envelope

When your creative nature never gives you rest, you can try creating an envelope using the scrapbooking technique. It consists of decorating paper products:

  1. beads;
  2. ribbons;
  3. cloth.

In this case, the envelope made according to the instructions given above is taken as a basis. But you need to select paper for it;

  • white;
  • very dense (it is sold in specialized stores for scrapbookers).

The following are superimposed on the base according to your imagination:

  1. buttons;
  2. satin ribbons;
  3. beads different sizes and textures.

List possible options The designs are practically endless. Such an envelope will become a real work of art. It can even be used as a gift to a loved one.

So, we will fold useful origami, this time an envelope for 4 disks and still from one A4 sheet (preferably from waste paper).

1. No, we don't draw cartoon characters - it's a CD and collapse arrows, not a dog's face. Place the disc in the center of the A4 sheet and fold the paper along its outline.
2. Mentally divide the folded sides into three parts vertically and bend back 2/3. To make this task easier for those who may not succeed the first time (or without a ruler), I will say: when bending the sides, 1/3 will shine through 2/3 and you can use it to align all three parts, because We can divide by 2 much better and faster than divide by three. For clarity, I drew a view from the other side.

3. Now we divide the bent part in half and bend it inward.

4. Let's bend the structure horizontally to mark the middle.

5. Place two disks at the bottom edges, working side down. We will place two more disks on them with the working side down (for visibility of the disk cover or down for greater safety).

fire the top and bottom edges of our origami. Let's fold it in the middle, closing the structure and get an envelope.

Explanations

When carrying, it is advisable to staple the envelope on one side.
Due to the upper and lower bent edges, the sides will practically not touch each other - when you fold such an envelope, you will see this for yourself.
You can store them in stacks - due to gravity they will not open. Stapling is not necessary for normal storage.
The design of an envelope with a tail-fastener on one side and a pocket for it on the other is not suitable for this option, because the disks will touch much more.
