The technologist should suggest what can be done with such a pocket, for example, a finishing stitch or a bartack.

When choosing accessories, the technologist takes into account several points: the type of fabric, its thickness, and the model’s production technology. If for some reason the accessories cannot be used on fabric, then the technologist offers other options. All materials, main and lining, as well as fittings, are recorded in the confectionery card. In large companies, the selection of accessories is carried out by a separate specialist - a confectioner, who also purchases the necessary accessories for the enterprise.

Design and patterns

The designer is responsible for constructing the patterns, but in any case he works together with the technologist. For example, it is the technologist who indicates where the allowances will be in the design of the product.

The finished patterns are laid out on the material to determine the amount of fabric needed for one model. To do this, all the details are laid out to the width of the fabric. It is worth considering that the denser they lie, the less residue there will be.

In addition, the technologist draws up a technological sequence - a description of all stages of sewing the product, indicating the time for each operation (in seconds) and the necessary equipment.

Practicing fit on the figure and model processing technology

After these stages, a sample is sewn in an experimental workshop or factory. The designer, constructor and technologist are present at the sample fitting. They look at the result, looking for inaccuracies. Usually, after the first sample, many changes are made to the design of the model or its manufacturing technology.

After all changes are made, the standard sample is approved. It is according to this sample that the factory will sew the batch. The sample must be the same as it will be launched into the batch, that is, from the original fabric with accessories.

Cutting the product

Before cutting the product, the material is checked for defects on a special machine. If the defect is spotty, then the fabric can be used and the defective areas can be cut out. If the defect is large-scale, for example, a stripe along the roll, then the fabric is returned to the manufacturer. Such rolls are often difficult to use in mass production, but if it is a small batch or individual tailoring, then the material can be left.

After checking the fabric for marriage is underway open. Very large companies use machines that automatically lay out fabrics and cut out parts.
