Greetings to the community.
I had a desire to buy binoculars and decided to show off on a budget.
I bought a BKFC 7X35 Photon (KOMZ). I got it in a non-rubber version with delivery for almost 4 thousand rubles.

First impressions:
1. The theater begins with a hanger, and these binoculars begin with a case. From the outside it looks decent, like faux leather, and its material is just that. Nothing to the touch either. But the inner, protruding edges of the case parts in the seams, clinging to the protruding surfaces of the binoculars, do not allow it to be pulled out without mentioning such and such a mother. Lens and eyepiece covers come off while still in the case for the same reason. It could be considered a feature, but it doesn’t happen once and for all. And the lids fall everywhere.

2. It smells like plastic, or more precisely, as it seems to me, like glue onto which imitation black rough leather is glued.

3. Through binoculars you can see what you are looking at. Adjusting for sharpness is a bit of a pain; when moving your gaze from one distance to another, you have to make a lot of adjustments; the depth of field is small. But you can get used to it. (Is it necessary?)
-Due to the shallow depth of field, the sharp space with binoculars is created with a noticeable spherical shape, that is, flat objects (the wall of a house, for example), after adjusting the focus, have a sharp image in the center, and at the edges, starting from approximately 1/2 the radius of the visible field - No. And vice versa.
-Minimum focusing distance is about 10 meters. I'm satisfied.
-I'm not happy with the strong distortion. At the edges of the field of view, all straight lines become curved, concave. When looking down or up at the wall of the house opposite, there are terrible distortions of perspective that are completely unexpected.
-night observations revealed several artifacts that show themselves to the observer: X rays from point light sources; purple images of brightly glowing small objects. Moreover, they are located from each other at different distances from the center of the field of view and on different sides of it. One good thing is that they, these bunnies, are not very bright and do not particularly interfere with observations.

Bunnies on the left optical system
and on the right

The swivels are funny, do they offer to tie binoculars to a fishing line, or what?

Lightweight, the binoculars weigh 498g including covers. The case weighs 150g;

There are no wipes for wiping eyepieces and lenses.
That seems to be all for now.

Compared with Chinese Comet, etc. 8X40 and impressions of the BKFC Photon 7X35 were the most positive. Therefore, there should be binoculars.

PS But I’ll still get 7 or 10x50. I really like budget Yukons. I just have Siberia (later known as Yukon) pancratic 20-50X50 pipe. This is the one I’ll buy as a plus for the pipe and Photon. Inexpensive.

Thanks for the review! Did you buy a used one from 2004? since it is new minimum 4500r!

why used? new.

master5 07-10-2012 17:52

It’s just that the number starts with 04, it seems! well if it's new then good price! By the way, these binoculars have been produced at KOMZ for a long time since Soviet times! the first two digits of the number are the year of manufacture!

sergbear 07-10-2012 23:22

yes, the number starts with 04. date on the box is 02.05
complete set - box, passport, 2 glass plugs, case with sewn-in nylon strap.

Today I went out into the wild to see the birds. The blur of the distant, and especially the near-ground, helps a lot not to be distracted from the object of observation. In the forest you can see things that you would never see up close. Some little birds are moving here and there, mice are scurrying about without fear.
In general, I'm happy with the purchase. If not for the covers and case.
What would be improved are soft-fitting, light-isolating eyecups, similar to the rubber bands on swimming goggles/mask. Cast from black aquarium silicone, or what?
Lids, bitch, at least hang them on a string, or what?!
I don’t like the collective farm, I’ll sew a cover. At the same time, there are also camping soap dishes and housings for lenses/eyepieces. The briefcase has already been disassembled for spare parts.

Alexsandr1977 08-10-2012 11:05

This is definitely not a marriage. There is nothing to fix here; there could be many reasons for this. From the imperfection of the antireflective coating, the number of optical elements, design features, internal reflections of light in the optical system of the device, etc. The Henzoldt D-16 copes with this best of all the binoculars I’ve seen, showing one blurry spot of low intensity and that’s it, the worst of all is the B7x30 and my current Zen Rei.

Z*G 10-10-2012 10:27

By the way, about bunnies.
Does any of the specialists who visit here know what kind of bunnies these are?
Is this a marriage or is it supposed to be like this?
Or is it a system disorder?
Can it be repaired?

Bunnies are okay, the B8M/BPC 8x30/12x45 are stronger.
The X-shaped rays are reflections from the “roof” of the roof prism.
This is observed (observed) in other roof binoculars.

By the way, what shade when observing through it is
slight yellowness?

Alexsandr1977 10-10-2012 10:31

And the rays are not only in X format, but also at other angles, and I had such an effect in porro, uncovered.

Z*G 10-10-2012 10:45

The roof is most pronounced. I saw it in Porro, but not in everyone. I read that this can happen when the objective lens is “pinched” during adjustment.
In the B6 1946, the Fuji 10x50 FTM-SX does not have such an effect, for example,
but you can see it in BPC 10x40.

Alexsandr1977 11-10-2012 11:50

All the same, whoever is used to porro then looking at ruff is not very like that. The ergonomics are certainly better, narrower, the balance is more comfortable to look at and hold in your hands.
But there is no depth of field compared to B7, for example. There, without looking anywhere, I set both eyepieces to -1 and that’s it, look anywhere, but at 7x ruff, when moving from, for example, 20m to 40m, you already have to turn the wheel)))

Alexsandr1977 12-10-2012 10:10

Are you talking about B7 regarding the yellow tint?

sergbear 12-10-2012 10:29

Q- What shade does it look like when viewed through it? Is there a slight yellowish tint?

A- I don’t have access to such subtleties of color perception. Your eyes different temperatures colors show. The question should be addressed to artists. They are flower experts. For me, the bkfts photon 7x35 gives a normal picture. Taking into account the above effects.

Q- How much does such badya cost?

A- these 10x50 WA Yukon crafts, despite the good design, are not worthy of being called binoculars. There is no trace of attracting the river sponge to the image of this Chinese food.
2500

Alexsandr1977 12-10-2012 10:32

At first I also didn’t notice the yellow tint, when I had only one B7x30 KOMZ, I thought that this was how it should be. And then I looked at the Zeiss yen and realized what “yellow” means)))

sergbear 12-10-2012 10:43

I'm not a specialist, but a Yukaghir singer. I can't judge. I sing what I see.

Z*G 12-10-2012 15:33

It turns yellow for a second even compared to the BPC of the 80s, 90s, what else

sergbear 13-10-2012 23:10

I continue my observations of the device.
Carrying binoculars around, whether in the city or beyond, is completely easy. Take out the falling caps from the eyepieces and lenses and the falling rubber bands from the eyepieces. I still need to sew a trunk. I'll be cutting out the material this week. And at the same time a travel cover for the eyepieces.
By the way, I was wondering if the caps on hinges, like those on sights, are sold separately? After all, this would be a way out!
I tried on the eyepiece cap from my scope on a hinge to the lens. With difficulty, but I got on. We will search (c)

Z*G 14-10-2012 12:52

Military B6, B8, etc. do not have lens caps - and somehow they do not suffer from this, no matter how much I carry them.

sergbear 14-10-2012 18:53

Visited the Arm and Huntings exhibition in Gostiny Dvor.
I looked through binoculars from different manufacturers and brands.
I compared it with the BKFC 7X35 I brought. Quietly. To avoid teasing the geese))

........................................

I’ll make a lid out of leather or, if I come across budget ones with hinges, I’ll buy them.
I won't buy anything else in return. Bye.

The device is good and all the small disadvantages are covered by a huge plus - everything is visible in it and everything can be adjusted simply with the finger of one hand, which is holding it at the time and does not get tired.

sergbear 14-10-2012 19:09

It’s good to read such binoculars; my budget one seems like heavenly glass to me after this.

Dimon Hell, I looked at your review. This is good detailed review. If a thing gives pleasure from its use, it is a good thing.
It is interesting to find out in your topic over time what new impressions have appeared, along with a description of the conditions of use.

Dimon Hell 14-10-2012 23:07

Thank you.
The review, although detailed, is stupid; I’m not much of an expert with binoculars.
There will be impressions new review too, a new compact.

Self-criticism is worthy of respect.
Impressions of the new compact will be interesting.
However, impressions about 8x32, which you have intrigued the readers with, will be no less interesting, but in your topic. Through time. When you use binoculars in your life for quite a long time.
Here I invited the community to discuss the BKFC 7x35 Photon produced by KOMZ.
Sorry.

Dimon Hell 15-10-2012 10:09

I apologize for intruding.

I wonder how Photon will behave in winter.

Interesting myself. Winter will come, summer will come (c) :-) I’ll write about everything.
In the meantime, I carry it around in my bag and backpack, adapting to situations where it can be useful, so to speak.
It’s cool to see your bus when those waiting still don’t even know about it))

Sorry for the glass. Sand gets into the backpack bag and the keys dangle. You never know what happens on walks with the younger generation))

sergbear 21-11-2012 02:59

BKFC 7X35 Photon in the forest is a good thing.
In order not to worry about caps, I wear binoculars without them on a neck strap under my jacket. And it doesn’t wobble, and it doesn’t freeze, which means it doesn’t sweat. And it doesn't get dirty.
Titbirds and targets up to 50m are clearly visible until the cloudy pre-sunset twilight.
Later the aperture ratio is not enough.
Lightweight, quite compact. I even take it to the city; in museums, a child examines the details of exhibits from behind the backs of crowded visitors in detail))

Coming from distant distances ZOMZ 7X50. I’ll drag it into the forest and field and compare it.

Alexsandr1977 22-11-2012 13:29

The 7x50 dimension is of course more universal, but the weight and dimensions are different. And the BPC is no longer sealed, it can suck in moisture.

enjoying watching nature at BKFC Photono 7x35))

I’ll write about what I’m waiting for in a separate post upon arrival.
Or I’ll rename this one.
By the way, can you rename the topic?
And is it necessary, do you think?

sergbear 17-12-2012 09:15

ZOMZ has arrived

Alexsandr1977 17-12-2012 09:28

Well, how do you like him? BPV1 or BPV has arrived?

sergbear 18-12-2012 02:24

Bpv has arrived. Separate focusing without a rangefinder reticle.
On the outside, of course, there are some traces of use, but everything works well.
The eyepieces are fixed in the transport position and do not dangle, although they rotate easily, that is, the threads are grease-free. The image is not white. It’s as if the filter inside is yellow.
There is a difference in the width of the image angle between the BFC and the BPV - the BKFC gives a wider field, 1.5 times wider than the BPV. Through the window I observe the house opposite from floor to floor of the 3rd floor of the BKFC and the 2nd with a tail of the BPV.
I can’t draw a conclusion based on the amount of light - it seems to be the same, but there is a difference in color rendering, which probably introduces distortion into the already subjective assessment.
Surprisingly, the BPV, despite the metal body, does not feel heavy - Yukon 1023g with a standard neck strap-sling, BPV with a leather neck strap 988g, BKFC 480g.

In general, I’m as happy as a locomotive.

Alexsandr1977 18-12-2012 08:26

Is BPV more yellow than BKFC?

sergbear 18-12-2012 08:53

Alexander, hello. You have such genuine interest in my descriptions that I will answer as fully as possible.
To my untrained eye, there are no color rendition distortions in the BFKTs 7x35 Photon binoculars. The pictures of my own eyes seem to me like bigger difference in color than images with and without binoculars. In other words, I have no need to find fault with the quality of optics, design, or assembly yet. There are minor quibbles/complaints about the eyecups, covers, and case. But these are minor things. All this applies to binoculars to a certain extent indirectly, since it does not limit its functionality.

Alexsandr1977 18-12-2012 09:12

Yellowness is not a distortion in color reproduction, it is, so to speak, the overall tone of the picture. The BPV turns out to make the picture yellow if you write that it’s as if the light filter is yellow?

sergbear 19-12-2012 12:53

Maybe someone can tell me. What year of manufacture is better to buy binoculars produced by KOMZ. Some copies have been in our stores since the early 2000s. Or the closer to our days the better? Personally, I am looking at the BPTs2-10x40 model. 29-12-2012 13:25

unimportant news. If you stop doing it, it’s in vain. They made a good, inexpensive wide-angle and lightweight field shooter.
From stock in companies, in some places it is on sale at fairly affordable prices. For now.

Alexsandr1977 20-01-2013 22:21

Did you manage to use it in the field in cold weather?

sergbear 01-02-2013 01:21

It was more than successful.
Everything spins and rotates without problems. Light passes through the optics in the same way as at room temperature.
The weight and dimensions are ideal. The picture is clear, at distances of 500m-3km when observing from hand and when moving from a vehicle, all the described distortions do not play any role.

To look at flies up close, you need a microscope, not binoculars.
I will be selling all other binoculars. That is, the mechanics do not freeze at -15?

Unfortunately, I lost the sequence of questions and answers, but I will say
that KOMZ BKFC and BPC series debt was used in the cold (down to -20) and there were no complaints.

sergbear 25-03-2013 09:41

I went on weekends all winter, sometimes on my own, sometimes with my family, skiing in the fields to shoot and look at airplanes. At minus twenty, of course, you won’t hang at the point for a long time, but a walk of two or three hours in a backpack and an hour or two at the point in open form I was quite worried about the binoculars. Everything was spinning and spinning, as always, freely. Once again I am pleased with the very wide viewing angle and good image sharpness. Birds are a pleasure to watch.

Binoculars FOTON BKFTs 7x35M

Binoculars "Photon" BKFTs (BKFTs 5x25M, BKFTs 7x35M, BKFTs 10x40M) - binoculars with a wrapping system containing a prism with a "roof", with central internal focusing, designed for observing distant objects at temperatures from minus 40 to plus 45 ° C.

The use of the “Roof-prism” image wrapping system based on a special prism with a “roof” and multilayer high-quality coating of all optics (light transmission coefficient of at least 70%) made it possible to create compact binoculars of the “Photon” series with high optical characteristics.

The binoculars have no external moving optical components; all models have a highly durable light alloy body, central focusing and elastic eyecups. A successful combination of optical characteristics allows you to successfully observe distant objects not only during the day, but also at dusk and in poor lighting, without removing your glasses.
