An article about how to do it right connect mobile(cellular) telephone to your computer and use it as a modem. This gives us such opportunities as significantly cheaper calls and SMS messages.

If your phone has built-in modem, then by connecting it to your computer you can freely access the Internet. This article will help you set up the Internet on computers with the Windows XP operating system. First, we need to make sure that the phone itself has all the necessary settings to access the Internet. If these are not available, you can order them by calling your mobile operator. The operator will send them to the phone and then you only need to save them in the phone itself.

We can begin. Connecting the phone to the computer by any of the listed methods (point 2). The computer will detect it as new equipment (IMPORTANT!!! On some phones, for example Nokia, in the settings there is a switch between the flash card and the phone modem, so in order for the modem to be detected you need to switch to it) and will offer to install a driver for this equipment . We install the driver from the disk that comes with the phone. Then we restart the computer.
After the reboot, you need to make sure that the modem is connected to the computer and working. To do this, go to Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem. Set any city code and click the modems tab. Here in the list of modems we look for ours and if it is connected, then in the “Connected to” column it will be indicated which of the COM ports. Otherwise, you did something wrong. It is necessary to repeat everything again.

If modem connected, select it and click Properties. Go to the Diagnostics tab and click Query modem. If the “modem response” is not received, you will have to “play around” with the system. The problem usually occurs if the system has a simple modem. That's what happened to me. I had a USRobotics modem on COM3 and I did not receive a response from the Nokia E52 USB Modem (COM4). After moving USRobotics to COM5, Nokia switched to COM3 and immediately received a response. Until you achieve a “modem response”, you can stop reading further as it won’t work anyway.

If everything works, then proceed to creating the connection. Go to Start, Connection, Show all connections. In the window that appears, select Create a new connection, click Next, Connect to the Internet, Establish a connection manually, Via a regular modem. From the list of modems, select “our”. Enter any name for the service provider. Phone number *99***1# (Siemens,Alcatel); *99# (others). Each operator has its own username and password. For MTS this is mts, for Beeline this is beeline, for a megaphone it is megafon, for Tele2 it is tele2. Both the name and password are entered in small letters. Click the Finish button.

A window will appear. At the bottom, click the “Properties” button. At the top, select the modem-phone. Go to the Network tab, click Settings. Leave the checkboxes only for Enable LCP extensions and Negotiate multi-channel connections for single-channel connections. Click OK. Click Properties. We put dots only on Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain a DNS server address automatically. Click Advanced. Uncheck the Use IP header compression checkbox. Next, click OK three times.

Enter the modem initialization line:
1. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.beeline.ru" for Beeline.
2. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.mts.ru" for MTC.
3. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.megafon.ru" for Megafon.
4. AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet.tele2.ru" for Tele2.
Click OK. All!!! Good luck in exploring the Internet.

In this article we will look at the simplest ways Internet access settings via phone.

Nowadays, setting up your phone to access the Internet is very simple. All Big Three operators have come up with a variety of automatic methods settings for accessing the Internet via phone.

We will consider both general methods and specifically for MTS subscribers.

The most in a simple way automatic configuration of Internet access via telephone is a call from MTS mobile phone to number 0876 (free call). All you need to do is just call this number, listen to the auto-informer and hang up. In response, in 2-10 minutes you will receive automatic settings for accessing the Internet via your phone and automatic settings for using the MMS service from MTS.

It is important to understand that there are two types of Internet access:

  1. WAP GPRS
  2. Internet GPRS

Internet access via WAP GPRS is ten times more expensive than Internet GPRS. Many JAVA applications will not even work with WAP GPRS for the reason that it will be very expensive, so these applications are specifically limited for WAP GPRS.

To access the Internet comfortably via phone, they usually use the most popular mobile browser mini Opera. Also, many people use the application Jimm for ICQ. Both of these applications will only work via Internet GPRS

The method of automatically configuring your phone to access the Internet via the number 0876 indicated above will allow you to configure your phone via WAP GPRS. Therefore, it is not suitable for everyone.

To automatically configure your phone via Internet GPRS, you need to send an SMS message with the word internet to a toll-free number 1234 . After that, in 2-10 minutes you will receive automatic settings Internet GPRS provided your phone supports automatic setup. Majority modern models support this method phone settings for Internet access.

It is worth noting that not all models support Internet access via , many older models, as well as some budget models can only access the Internet via WAP GPRS. There are models that allow you to access the Internet via Internet GPRS, but do not support automatic settings.

In the future, there are plans to publish detailed information here. manual settings phones to access the Internet via phone. Perhaps this will be done at the request of our readers.

If you are faced with the fact that you cannot configure Internet GPRS on your phone, then write about it in the comments.

We need to know:

  1. Your region
  2. Your phone model (if you don’t know, you can usually see your phone model under the phone’s battery)

The second way to set up Internet access via Internet GPRS for free is through a special form. http://mobile.yandex.ru/tune.xml
This method of accessing the Internet via telephone is suitable for both subscribers MTS so for Beeline, Megaphone and other mobile operators.

Just select your operator, phone model, enter your phone number and click receive settings via SMS. The settings will come and all you have to do is save them.

How to understand what settings you have by default: Internet GPRS or WAP GPRS. This can be viewed in your profile settings. Of course, this is done differently on each phone model. Therefore, if you don’t understand how to do this, then you can try running the mini Opera or Jimm application, if it doesn’t start, then WAP settings GPRS, and if it works, then you definitely have Internet GPRS configured - there is no other option.

Manual settings for accessing the Internet via mobile phone:

  • Sony Ericsson: by example

The Internet is an integral part of life modern man. We go to work - we look at the phone, in the office we sit at the computer, and even at home with a glass of beer we watch TV - more and more often also via the Internet, and not the central antenna. But we’ll talk about TV and strong drinks another time, and today I would like to focus on mobility - how to connect the Internet via a phone, because almost no one can live without it today. In fact, connecting a modern phone, smartphone or tablet to the Internet is not that difficult. There are even several methods, which we have already discussed in some articles, and today we will put them all together so that a complete picture emerges.

How to connect mobile Internet to your phone?

The simplest and affordable way connecting the Internet to a mobile phone is the so-called “mobile Internet” service, which is provided by absolutely all mobile operators. In all modern tariffs, it is already tied to the number by default, but it is worth considering that for accessing the Internet the subscriber is charged an additional fee - each operator has its own.

It should be noted that in recent years all leading operators have tariffs with an included volume package mobile internet traffic, which is very convenient and profitable. For example, I use Tele2, which has a cool option - exchanging minutes for gigabytes, aimed specifically at those who speak little but access the Internet a lot via phone - I wrote a separate article about it, read it!

To activate mobile Internet you will have to do a few simple steps on your phone. On a standard “naked” Android you need to go to the “Settings> Additional settings> Mobile networks" and activate the "Mobile data" mode.

Because I'm currently using Xiaomi smartphone, which runs on the proprietary MIUI shell, I can show you how to turn on the Internet on Xiaomi. You need to go to “Settings” and open the “SIM cards and mobile networks” section, where you activate the “Mobile Internet” toggle switch.

By the way, there is also a traffic setting here - if you know that the limit free internet is limited, then by entering the value of the volume provided to you according to the terms of the tariff, the phone will track its overuse and report it using notifications.

In order to disable mobile Internet, accordingly, you need to turn off the “Mobile data” mode.

What to do if the Internet on your phone does not work?

There may be several reasons why the Internet does not work on your phone. Most often, for some reason, Megafon subscribers ask about this, but this also happens with Beeline, MTS and Tele2. I would recommend checking your mobile hotspot settings. There may be a situation where the settings of cellular operators go wrong - for example, if you bought your device overseas and it has default configurations for another provider, or you often change SIM cards and the phone does not have time to adapt to them.

To correct the error, you will have to manually enter the parameters to correctly connect your phone to the Internet. This is done in the same section “Settings - SIM cards and mobile networks”, where you need to click on the name of the SIM card of your phone

On this page, you can change the settings for connecting your phone to the Internet one by one.

Below is the input data for each mobile operator:

Internet on your phone via WiFi

Another simple way to access the Internet from a smartphone is perfect if you are at home, in the subway or in a cafe - this is WiFi. There are two options here to configure the wireless signal distribution.

  1. If you have already read articles on this blog, then you probably know how a phone connects to the Internet via wifi router. No? Then it will help you - scroll it all the way to the subsection about accessing the network from a mobile phone.
  2. The second one is also not quite complicated. If you do not have a router, then we can use personal computer or laptop. In order to do this, read about how to share a computer connection and allow other devices to access it.

When we talk about these two methods, we mean connecting your phone to the Internet via Wi-Fi. To enable it on Android phone versions above 4.0, just go to “Settings” and move the slider to the active state.

After this, you will see a list of networks available for connection. You will choose either a network with a password you know, or a public network that is open to access.

The same thing happens with the iPhone - the “Settings” section, the Wi-Fi slider to the active position.

Internet connection via Bluetooth

Finally, the last option for connecting the Internet to your phone is via Bluetooth, connecting it and a computer that has the Internet. The method is a little specific, since you will need additional software, a lot of settings and super-user rights (root access) on your mobile phone - it’s easier to do this using one of the above. However, for those interested, it will be discussed in a separate post. Wait!

Important! These instructions are about Android devices, that is, methods for connecting your phone to the Internet via a computer via a USB cable on another OS do not work.

A problem often arises - there is no Internet on the phone and there is no way to use Wi-Fi, but there is a computer with a working network. This article describes a simple solution - connecting via wire.

All you need is USB cable, wire for charging the device. No programs or complications.

Unfortunately, iPhone and Windows Phone do not have a feature designed to communicate with world wide web. Of course, there are some programs aimed at creating a bridge between computers and devices running the above OS. However, this method does not affect this.

Connect the phone using a wire. It is worth making sure that the laptop recognizes the smartphone. If everything is in order, then upon contact the PC will make a characteristic sound, and the device will be displayed in the disk folder.

If the computer “does not see” Android, although the device shows a successful connection, then you need to install the driver. This program helps the PC interact with the gadget. Be sure to look for a driver for your model; others most likely will not work.

After installation, the phone will be displayed, but if this does not happen, then you should check the serviceability of the cable and the USB connector of the PC.

How to connect your phone to the Internet via a computer via a USB cable

Go to Android settings gadget. In the first group of settings you need to select the “more” tab. Among the proposed items, you will need the USB internet item. Sometimes the name of the tab is different, but the meaning is the same. This item needs to be enabled.

Next will be manipulations with the computer. Firstly, it is important to enter the network control center and shared access. You can go there by right-clicking on the web connections icon in the taskbar, usually on the right. If you can’t find the button, there is an alternative option:

  • Start.
  • Control Panel.
  • Categories.
  • Net.

Then click on Network and Sharing Center. In addition to the main block of hyperlinks, there are several on the left side of the menu. Among them, you need to go directly to “Changing adapter parameters”.

The open dialog box shows the active connections to the servers. The list of names also contains the Internet through which the PC itself operates. It is not difficult to find it, whether it is wired or wireless. In addition, there is a web created Android device. It's better to rename it.

Right-click on the connection icon related to the PC and go to the “Access” panel. Next, enable the “Allow other users to connect to this computer” option.

If your PC has three or more active networks, it will be necessary to indicate specifically to whom access is granted. It is important to select from the list of networks the one created by the smartphone and exit by selecting save.

Go to the network properties of your smartphone and in the window, without going to other tabs, double-click on “Internet Protocol Version 4”. The default fields will contain the established addresses. The first line will have to be changed to 192.168.0.1.

Most likely the address is different. In this case, first check the box next to “ automatic receipt IP", exit after saving. Then return to properties, to the same protocol tab and enter the numbers indicated above in the first field.

Now, when you click on the second line, a different address is entered. If this does not happen, you need to press the Tab key. Next, you need to close the window and save the changes.

After all operations, the phone will be successfully connected to the server. If you need to disconnect the cable and reconnect it, you will need to partially repeat the procedure. But considering that it takes half a minute, it won’t be anything complicated.
