It is based on a synthetic woven fabric, which is coated on both sides with several layers of PVC. It is also worth noting that if in the production of conventional inflatable boats the technology of gluing seams is used, then when producing models from unreinforced PVC, the seams of the boat are glued, which increases its reliability.

Both approaches can be considered completely equivalent, from the point of view of the capabilities and characteristics of the resulting seams, and all speculation about the fact that some technology is better is completely unfounded. If, of course, all the nuances of technology are observed.

Features of the welding method

One of the myths about boats made using welding technology was that when welding with high-frequency waves, the surface layers of PVC are destroyed, thinned, and the seam becomes less durable. In fact, everything is completely different.

Indeed, the surface layers of PVC melt in the fabric of the cylinders and the fabric of the linings laid on both sides at the joints.

But at the same time, at the welding site, a monolithic material is formed at the joints. The strength in these places becomes greater than the strength of the PVC materials on the cylinders. The same thing is observed at the junction of the bottom with the cylinders.

Formally, the seams should be weaker in strength, but in practice the opposite is true. It is at the seams that the main strength is concentrated.

The welding method makes it possible to make maximum use of automatic machines to speed up the entire technological process.

Features of the gluing method

Modern production of PVC boats using the gluing method is reminiscent of the manufacturing technology of rubber boats. The formed cylinders fit into one another and are glued together using special adhesives. At the same time the process is underway heating the gluing area. At the same time, the temperature does not violate the structure and integrity of the surface layer of the PVC material. The quality of the seam depends on the width of the overlap, the quality of the glue and adherence to technology ( temperature regime, time periods).

Other technological subtleties

There is one more structural part of inflatable boats, the quality of which is particularly demanding for manufacturers. These are sealed jumpers that separate the compartments of boats. In the event of a breakdown of one of the cylinders, the jumper prevents the air from completely escaping from the cylinders. The production of PVC boats involves the use of certain technologies in the formation of a hard bottom.

There are several options for the bottom: a stacked type bottom, which looks like segments of waterproof plywood that are inserted into PVC openings, glued or welded to the main bottom. The technology for fastening the openings depends on the general manufacturing technology of the PVC boat.
