This directory contains information about all professions existing on the territory of the Russian Federation. This information is presented as tariff and qualification characteristics that were developed in accordance with each category of each specialization of workers. These characteristics include the requirements for workers of each qualification in a particular profession.
ETKS of professions is an official document that is approved by the authorities and in some cases has legislative force. The prerequisites for its creation date back to the Soviet Union: every employee in the country received a salary in accordance with their professional skills and rank.

- Includes characteristics of professions that are grouped by production and type of work, regardless of the form of ownership. - The characteristics of professions were developed in relation to the 8-bit tariff scale. The exceptions are the cases specified in the specifications. The first section of the ETKS includes professions of workers in all sectors of the economy. It was developed on the basis of the ETKS release, which was in effect earlier. Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation dated October 31, 2002 N 787 established that the Unified Tariff and Qualification Directory of Work and Professions of Workers (hereinafter referred to as UTKS) consists of tariff and qualification characteristics containing characteristics of the main types of work by profession of workers, depending on their complexity, and corresponding to them tariff categories, as well as requirements for the professional knowledge and skills of workers.

What is ETKS and why is it needed?
ETKS 2018 blue-collar occupations is a special document that is a list of positions with qualification requirements for the workers who occupy them. It is used to determine worker qualifications, assign ranks, and conduct certifications. The abbreviation stands for Unified Tariff and Qualification Directory.
This is a fairly voluminous document, the main parts of which were initially approved by Government resolutions back in Soviet times, in the 80s. Since then it has been revised and edited many times. What is it for:

How to use the directory
The Unified Tariff and Qualification Directory for 2018 occupations of workers is quite simple to use if you understand the principle of constructing the material in it. First you need to find the desired issue and section; their names give a clear idea of the positions included and qualification requirements.

3.Qualification characteristics of each employee position includes three sections :
"Job Responsibilities" - reflected main laborfunctions taking into account the technological homogeneity and interconnectedness of work, allowing for the optimal implementation of the specialization of employees;

labor efficiency;
professional knowledge and practical experience.
The degree of compliance of the duties actually performed by the employee and the level of his preparedness with the requirements of qualification characteristics is determined by the qualification commission of the enterprise, institution, or organization.
