During your travels, you may come across the book “Deathbrand”. After reading it, a marker “Haknir's Shoal” appears on the map. However, you don’t have to go to the libraries, you can just go there yourself (see locations). After completing the quest and finding hidden treasures, you will receive a set of armor, specially designed for those who like to hold a weapon in both hands, and a couple of swords.

First chest

On the shallows you will see a camp of robbers, who, of course, will not be happy with your visit. Take the Deathbrand Treasure Map from the leader's body, read the book if you haven't already, and examine the chest dug up by the bandits. It contains a helmet with properties: water breathing. +100 armor when wearing a full set of Death's Mark armor. Look at the map and go along the route convenient for you to get the rest of the armor.

Before you leave there, grab the Eastern Imperial Company pendant lying in one of the tents.

Second chest

Go north from the Earth Stone, on the outskirts of Raven Rock, along the coast. (see map). Soon a couple of robbers will come across, and not far from their camp there is a chest dug out of the ground, which contains Haknir's armor, which increases the strength reserve by 15 units for each equipped item from the Death Brand set.

Third chest

Even further north, a little further from the waterfall, you will find the third chest (see map). It contains Haknir's gloves. If you equip them and dual-wield your weapon, your hits will deal 10% more damage per Deathmark set item equipped.

Fourth chest

Now it's time to visit Tel Mithryn, go straight to where the river flows into the sea. Next to the bodies of the unlucky treasure hunters is the fourth chest (see map). It contains Haknir's Boots, which increase your carry weight by 10 pounds per Deathmark item equipped, and the Gyldenhul Barrow Key. Obviously, it was not placed in vain, go to the mound and do not forget to take with you the ancient Nord pickaxe. Let us remind you that it can be obtained during the quest An Ax to Find or purchased from Baldor after completing the quest.

Gyldenhull Mound

Open the door with the key. The first - and seemingly only - room contains only a pair of sarcophagi filled with stalhrim. Take the time to get the “enchanted ice” and a passage will open on the left.

Behind the next door awaits a treasury full of coins, but as soon as you take Haknir's cursed gold (or any other thing), a grate blocks the way back.

You have reached the resting place of Haknir himself. Take the sword called “Bloodscythe” lying near the skeleton, and the spirit of the legendary pirate will appear, naturally hostile. First, he will send the ghosts of his team to you, then a couple of assistants mentioned in the book, a team again, and only then he will appear himself to calm down forever. Take another sword, "Strangler" (Soulrender), from the captain's body. If these two swords are used in pairs, then when struck, the Strangler absorbs 15 points of magic and has a chance to dispel magic defense, and the Bloody Scythe absorbs 15 points of health and has a chance to weaken the enemy's armor.

All items that belonged to Haknir can be improved at the forge.

Seal of Death(orig. Deathbrand) - side quest in the add-on The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn.

Brief walkthrough

  1. Defeat the pirates on Haknir Shoal.
  2. Find treasure using the Seal of Death card.
  3. Explore the Gyldenhull Mound.
  4. Defeat Haknir Seal of Death.

Walkthrough

If the main character has reached level 36, then reading the book “The Seal of Death” will trigger the quest. After reading, a marker will appear on the map that will lead the hero to the Haknir Shoal. There, after destroying the pirates, you can take the Seal of Death treasure map from the leader’s body.

Note: The quest can also begin without reading the book if, when visiting the Haknir Shoal, you kill the pirates and take the treasure map.

Explanations for the table
  1. The helmet, unlike other elements of armor, is always located only in this location. This is not surprising, considering that this fact is written about in the book “The Seal of Death”.
  2. This element of armor can be located in any of the locations, except for the Haknir Shoal (only the helmet is always located there). Just like the location of other elements of armor, its place is determined randomly.
  • The key to the Gyldenhull Mound will be in the last chest that Dovahkiin opens.
  • After all the pieces of armor have been collected and the hero has the key, you should go to the Gyldenhull mound.

Tomb

At first it seems that the room is very small. However, if you read the adventurer's note, you can guess that somewhere there is a continuation of the cave.

There is a hidden passage under one of the stalhrim reserves. To open it, you need to get Stalhrim, which will require an ancient Nord pickaxe. In the opened passage you need to go straight along the corridor. The corridor will lead to a large treasury, fenced off on both sides with locked doors. As soon as the hero finds himself in a large treasury, the grate will lower and there will be no other way but forward. Behind the iron door, which must be unlocked with the key from the last treasure chest, is Haknir's tomb itself.

At first everything will be quiet, but if you examine the pirate's skeleton and pick up his unique scimitar Bloody Scythe, the ghost of Haknir will appear and attack. During the battle, he will summon the ghosts of his team, which will greatly complicate the battle. After the victory, you can pick up another unique saber from the remains of the pirate king - the Strangler. When paired with the Bloody Scythe, they provide a special magical effect.

The stage indicated in green corresponds to the successful completion of the quest, and in red - its failure.

Notes

  • Not all quest stages may appear in the quest log. Which of them will appear and which will not depend on how you complete the quest.
  • Stages are not always displayed sequentially. As a rule, this happens if the quest has several possible endings, and also if some of the quest stages can be completed in any order.
  • If a stage is marked green, that is, as the end of a quest, then this means that the quest disappears from the list of active quests in the log, but new entries associated with the quest may still appear in the quest log.

Bugs

  • If you crack the grate of the mound using the learned ability “Wax Cast” and fight Haknir before all the Death Seal armor is collected, then it becomes inaccessible.
  • Sometimes it is impossible to obtain stalhrim to unlock the passage.
    • Solution: try to mine ore several times, if this does not help, re-enter the location or load an earlier save.
  • Sometimes it is impossible to take the Bloody Scythe to awaken Haknir's spirit.
    • Solution: Loading an early save before entering Gyldenhull Barrow.
  • When entering Gyldenhull Barrow, it may happen that the walls and floor will not appear, as a result the player character may fall through the textures and will fall down / freeze in place, then reappear at the entrance and repeat this repeatedly.
    • Solution: exit and re-enter the location or load an earlier save.

A Pirate's Tale

Haknir Seal of Death was dying.

Garuk Howl of the Wind, the ship's quartermaster, could not comprehend this. His grandfather served as Haknir - and this was almost six decades ago - and even then he was a legend among the pirates of the north. He was called the "King of Ghosts" because he was as implacable and merciless as the sea on which he sailed. For Garuk, who had often seen Haknir rush into battle in shining armor of stalhrim, like the ancient kings, cutting down enemies like grass with his two sabers, he was practically a god.

But no one feared Haknir more than his own crew. They knew his fits of rage, they knew how he enjoyed torturing and killing for fun. There were even darker rumors: they said that he fed on the blood and souls of his victims to prolong his life. Some considered him a Daedra who had made his way into the mortal world. Others said that he owed his life and power, armor and weapons, to Dagon, the prince of destruction. And the signed contract was a terrible, unhealing wound across his entire face - the Seal of Death, which no one could look at without flinching.

Such thoughts ran through Garuk's head as he took his place on the deck at the head of the crew. He greeted helmsman Talin, his main rival, with a nod. By sunset, he thought, one of them will be captain. The second is dead.

When Haknir left his cabin, the crew fell silent. He looked sick and his voice cracked. But even in this form, he did not lose his greatness. He looked at his crew, at the most brutal killers that the waters of the northern seas had ever carried, and no one could meet his gaze. Finally, he sighed.

You want to know who will take my place and how my share of the spoils will be divided.

Everyone wanted to know, but still there were shouts of protest from the crowd. Haknir ordered them to be silent.

All these years I have been choosing among you who would be worthy to take my place, or who would be strong enough to take it from me. But none of you even come close to this. So you won't get it.

He raised his hand. “In the name of Dagon, I curse my armor and my sabers, this ship and everything on it. Until the day comes when one of you defeats me in battle, none of you will get a single coin,” he looked at the team. “Be grateful that I am leaving you your lives.”

Garuk and Talyn looked at each other. If anyone else had uttered such words, there would have been an immediate riot. A hundred hungry pirates versus one man. But it was Haknir, and the team was silent.

Haknir threw the card at Garuk's feet. “Garuk, take the boat and bury my armor where I indicated. Talyn, we will go to my grave, where you will leave me with my gold. Then burn the boats and do as you please. “I’m no longer your captain,” with these words he turned around and headed back to the cabin.

At dawn, Garuk took a boat and three people. They landed on the beach north of Solstheim at a location indicated by Haknir, set up camp, and began digging.

But greed gnawed at Garuk's heart. Again and again he glanced at the iron-bound chest they had brought with them. The old man was not here - perhaps he was no longer in this world. His order was frankly stupid.

That night, Garuk opened the chest and took out the helmet. Stalhrim glinted in the moonlight. The time has come. A new Ghost King was about to appear to the world. He put the helmet on his head.

And he screamed.

People say this cry can still be heard on moonlit nights on the rocky shore north of Solstheim.

P.S-

This is one of the final stories in the Haknir Saga series, which describes the life and adventures of the legendary pirate king Haknir, known as the Seal of Death. How true these stories are and whether they are true at all is for the reader to decide.
